Back between 1970 and 1981 the Chev 400 made 150HP and 4mpg. Today the 376/6.0L makes 300-345HP and 13mpg just putting around short trips . Anybody that calls a 6.0L a gas hog is out of touch. It"s the owners that install big wide coarse tread low pressure tires after jacking the vehicle up 8" . And drive like crazy then wonder why the truck is a fuel hog.
