While the ICBM may have been stored in a missle well, silo, or whatever, in the Navy our SM2 missles were stored in huge rotary magazines inside the missle house. As much as I loved the engine rooms where I worked, and as cool as the machinery there was, the couple of times I got to go in the missle house I was always amazed at the equipment there. It was so cool to watch the missle be brought up by the rotary magazine, pushed over to the loading rail, and then out onto the firing rail of the launcher. The whole process took only a matter of seconds and was, for want of a better descripion, like watching poetry in motion.
