Had a devil of a time with it until I found the answer in a small engine forum. Was also breaking the starter gear (plastic gear, metal ring gear... you do the math) but discovered the starter and ring gear were slightly misaligned, bent the starter mount a little to line them up and no more problems. Otherwise has been pretty trouble free. I get parts at a local power equipment dealer but have also used Lowe's, TSC and an on-line source. Enjoy a great deal!
