I'd say the Gov't with their "Fence row to fence row" nonsense was the cause of most of the problems in the 80's suckers took the bait and got trapped.Do you really think Gov't involvement in farming has really helped helped farmers overall thru the years? I don't think so and the reason I say so is the farmers in my area that have come and gone usually thru bankruptcy were the ones big into the Gov't loans and programs the ones that have been able to hang on in tough times and do really well in good times have been those that have no association or very little with the Gov't.At any rate its a Moot Point as the lawyers say as the $$$$ from the Gov't will run out in the not too distant future one way or the other.
