I wouldn't worry to much, just answer the questions as best you can. No conspiracy here, USDA has been interested in production for over 200 years... but most people didn't know how to read or write. Saves manpower sending civil servants millions of miles of back roads counting cows... and when I think about it, I drove from Bakersfield California to the Texas panhandle without seeing a cow, a tractor... lots of barbwire, but all this is suppose to be 'ranchland?'.... so I would like to see the stats on that too. The reason you got that is too see if a place your size is more productive than....300 or 3000 acres out there. Your place could hold? 8? 10? more cows? Out there, local laws limiting livestock to 10 acres per head, 50 acres per head... pumping YOUR tax money into places like that is one of the issues. All these statistics will be public records. I don't think they print 'yearbooks of agriculture' anymore do they? The most boring books in the world...
