The hose thing is why I leave to water running at a trickle so it does not freeze in the hose. Never had if freeze yet knock on wood. Even in 2007 with the ice storm and no well it did not freeze due to the ice being on the hose and when we got power back it fill the tank just fine. Did hate to week of breaking the ice in a pond to get water to the animals
