I'm from eastern Nebraska, but I recall one morning my brother-in-law, "Ed" and I stopped at Starvin' Arvin's in Grand Junction for coffee and rolls.
Ed functions according to when he had his last cup of coffee, so supplies for the day included a huge thermos of coffee, which the waitress was happy to fill. Ed got to sweet talking her in the process, and she forgot to charge us for the thermos, she just charged us for our cups of coffee and rolls.
