New ones have sensors inside the tire/wheel assy. The older ones used the wheel rotational difference to determine which tire/wheel assy. was low on air. They used the same reluctor/sensor that was used for the antiskid braking to measure wheel rotation. I don't know which one you have in your 2010 but the rotational sensor is reset by driving the car for a certain period of time at 40PH or higher. The sensor in the tire is automatically reset when you bring the tire pressure up to spec.
