One of my friends that was drafted into the Army in 1952 and I was drafted the following year. He and his wife bought 40 odd acres in the late 50's and it had small home. He gave the home along with several acres to his daughter. They had a log home built around 1990. The daughter sold the home and moved to GA. I received a Christmas card from them saying they had sold the property in MD and had moved to GA. They had it advertised for $525000.00. They sold it this past June for $475000.00. If I were you I would have your property appraised. Hal PS: Autozone paid $400000.00 for a 1/2 acre lot just down the road from my nephew. My parents bought that home when they left the farm in the 50's when my brother and I were in the military. They paid $11000.00 for it and its a big rancher. My nephew is afraid his taxes will skyrocket. The land is worh more than the home.
