No doubt that winter is here in West Central IL. Snow and high winds have shut down most everything. State Police have closed US 67 in some places, so many vehicles in the ditch and several collisions. Wind is still gusting over 50 mph and is expected to continue overnight. Not sure how much snowfall, probably around three inches, but the wind is making this miserable.
Spent the afternoon putting my winter tires on my truck, just in time because my sister got her car stuck, and I ended up pulling her out. My brother was in the Peoria area today, ended up staying in a hotel instead of going home because the road was closed and it was barely passable to get as far as he did. The 60-70 miles he did drive took over three hours and saw dozens of vehicles in the ditch. Local school held up the school buses due to accidents closing roads.
Hasn't been this bad since the Feb 2011 snow storm. I think we got more snow today than all of last winter.
