The color you see is the result of some simmental, limousine, and beef master blood. The simmental was my own folly, I bought some about 10 years ago and never had very good luck with them. They had a lot of sickness. The limousine came in through an angus/limo cross bull back about that same time frame when I was still renting bulls, and the beef master came in when a neighbors bull came to visit about 5 years ago. I've got 5 red cows and the rest of the herd is all black, I have a thing for black baldies and have been toying with the idea of getting a hereford bull. An older neighbor who was a cattleman for 60 years tells me every time I see him that "there are two crosses in the cattle business, angus and hereford and hereford and angus, remember that and you'll do just fine."
