Actually the media already filters out shooting tragedies pretty well. Listen to the news to check this theory out.
If a child is accidentally shot and injured, it only makes the local city or county news.
If a child is intentionally shot and injured or killed, it might make it as far as the state or regional news.
Across the country a total 20 children being shot and killed a week is a normal occurance and it is not news. The only thing that made this tradgedy news worthy is that all 20 childeren were in the same place and they were all 6 year-olds.
I'm a gun owner, but I have to wonder: We protect our ducks by limiting hunters to 3 shots before reloading. Why don't we provide the same protection to our children? I'd have no problem living with that restriction.
