I've got two GM owner's manuals sitting right here. 1978 1/2 ton Chevy truck with the Olds 350 diesel and a 1981 Chevy Chevette 1.8 diesel. Both say that if low on fuel and no diesel stations are available, up to a 10% mix of gas to diesel can be used without damage in an emergency.
My 1982, 1986, and 1988 GM owner's manuals no longer say gas is OK. In fact there must have been a problem since the have a big notice in bold type. Reads "Do not try to use heating oil or gasoline in your diesel engine. Either heating oil or gasoline may cause engine damage."
Are you accusing me of BS? Are you claiming GM did not put this info in the manuals?
