Dodge = 6-speed with Cummins only, but it's a detuned version from the automatic tune.
The latest diesels from the big 3 put out more torque than the most recent crop (ZF6-650, NV5600 etc) of 6-speed manuals could handle. Dodge must of had lots of diesel/6-speed sales or they'd of dropped it too...
Yes you can get beefier manual boxes from the medium duty market (i.e. spicer etc) but I think it's a cost/adaptation factor especially if you are talking mating the engine and transfer case...
I will be keeping my 7.3 / ZF6 combo as long as I can....
