Well, at close range, what bad guy wants to take ANY caliber? My choice is 9mm, son, daughter, wife and I all have 9mm. The difference between the various calibers are argued far more than it"s worth. All will do the job, properly placed. If you study the specifications and do the math there isn"t THAT much difference. My suggestion is to try a few at a dealer with a range who will let you try out several calibers, and choose the caliber and gun you (and significant others) can shoot comfortably, and fairly accurately. Don"t fall for the "Bigger is always better," hype. By the way 9mm is the choice of NATO, so if the militaries of several nations choose it, it"s probably adequate.
