Yeah, those local hangouts are becoming a thing of the past for many reasons already mentioned. There is a store about a mile and a half from me which is a landmark in this area, "Cliff's Curb Market", that has about three little booths. Their coffee is made and kept in those pump type thermos jugs, but there are several old timers in the area who meet about every day for morning coffee. I read in the obits where one of them died the other day. Guess I just might go and apply for his seat.
