: : Dear Farmer, WHAT???????? : Heat the engine, you don't think those pistons and sleeves stay the same sizes at operating temperatures do you ? The cast iron sleeves and the aluminum pistons expand and contract at very different rates. If you heat the water in the water jacket the sleeves will heat and expand first causing at least a small amount of release between the piston and the sleeve. The same principle is used in reverse on many cars when you replace a rear axle bearing and you put the retainer ring on hot so that it will seize in place when cold. You may have to heat and let cool several times but there is expansion and contraction in that iron, trust me. : Good luck. Dear Farmer,Thanks, sounds like a great idea, but I neglected to tell you,I already had the motor apart.(Head off among a lot of other things.) This has been a lazy weekend for me, and I have neglected a lot of things.I might check her out after work sometime this week. Let you know how I make out. Thanks, Mike.
