Had a Toyota with alot of miles on it that used to pop the filters..I think the pressure relief wore a step in the bore that it traveled and could not go past the step..so was only capable of dumping a certain amount of oil...it would only do it with cold oil, once warmed up it was fine. It just could not open far enough to dump the excessive volume when cold. Let it warm up abit at idle then run the speed up. I would bet it will be fine for the time being. Who wants to rev a cold motor anyways?
