: The story begins with me buying out my half interest in a JD 850 (Jap) from my bro/in/law. His son put it in a lake running wide open while bushhogging. After a $2000 rebuild, it had a little vibration and I didn't trust it to last, or at least that was the reason I gave. : So I bought a 240 Massey with low hours, I was proud and independant once again, what a great feeling. But things were going to change. : My wife's side of the family was up for the weekend, to fish and get away from the city. I was cutting grass with my Massey, enjoying the sound of that Perkins diesel, while everyone else was fishing. Life was good. : Well, I decided to take a rest and see what they were catching. Everyone was having a good time, except my bro/in/law, he doesn't like to fish, so he was laid back drinking beer. : He figures this would be a good time to try out my Massey, saying something about helping me out as he was climbing on the tractor. Now folks there is a foot rest just in front of the brakes on a Massey that is not on a JD850. : It took about two minutes for old bro/in/law to discover that fact. As he was sailing down the hill backwards, he had a grimace on his face, pushing that foot rest for all its worth. : There was a terrible commotion as the bushhog entered the water, then went out of sight, next the tractor was gone and lastly his head. Only his hat was left floating. Then a erie silence. : All I could think was if he didn't drown I was going to kill him. Finally he popped up, about thirty feet out. Of course I had to as him if he was all right, you know like I really cared. Then I asked where's my tractor, he said I'm standing on the hood. I will give him credit though, he pushed on that foot rest till the tractor finally stopped rolling. : Now the Massey has a tic-tic and a little vibration, but whats you gonna do. : As far as this story goes, forgive me for I know not what I do.
