My sister worked thirds with her husband for many years. Where they worked was right next to a pretty high scale neighborhood. They got to know which days where the garbage days and would work straight through their lunch break to get off a half an hour early.
It was amazing the things they would find thrown out. She has a Lazy Boy leather set of recliners. They where thrown out because the couch that matched them had a tear in the one cushion. They hauled all of it home and used the couch with a cover for years. Now that their kids are gone and they bought a smaller house she just kept the recliners. She looked at the time and that set was real high priced.
