Any gun clubs in your area? Make a phone call, see if you can find some variety in .243 and offer to buy a box of shells if you can shoot half of them through it.
I had a .243 for a while, liked it, but had to sell. Same case as the .308 but necked down for the smaller bullet. Little faster out the barrel.
Savage's Accu-trigger has a good reputation. As does the Ruger 77, a mark 2, would be more preferable if you buy used. Never shot a Remington, but they have a good reputation as well.
Mossberg just got into rifles a few years ago, so I don't know what kind of reputation they are building. But their shotguns, as long as there's a shell in the magazine, it goes click-click-boom, this time, every time.
