Well as said earlier the 223-5.56 amo is to small for deer in fact in most states you have to use 243 and bigger. 243 is an okay deer round but not suited for anything bigger. In my opinion go with a standard round like 270 , 7mm-08, 308, 30-06, 30-30. Ammo can be found any where at any Walmart they are tried and true rounds. And I doubt any round has killed as muthch game as the 30-30 and the 30-06. I have used the 308 to make ridiculous long shots but all my hunting shot are 200 yrd or less maybe 300yrd. Also any name brand like ruger, Winchester, Remington, savage, weatherby, won't let you down. Well that's my 2cents
