Back in the day when a lot of farmers used 5 gallon cans to take fuel to the field, one of the hired men grabbed the wrong can and put 5 gallons of gas in the fuel tank of a TD14.
There was barely any diesel fuel in the tank; when he moved the lever to switch to Diesel, the head blew off of the engine, through the hood and landed about 50 feet away from the tractor.
The only time we mixed gas and diesel fuel was to create a blend of "tractor fuel" for that cursed JD G.
I'd say: Whatever you do - play it safe. If that means draining the tank, then drain it. Burn the fuel in an old gas engine; it will be much safer and less expensive that way.
