Can not agree with you on this one and I have BTDT many many many times. Yes the hyd effect will stop the engine from spinning over but the starter does not have enough torque to hurt parts when the cylinders are full due to the fact it never gets the engine spinning over fast enough to cause problems. Yes if it has a stuck valve you can bend a push rod but that is ALL that I have ever had happen and I do many many many stuck engines and I like to buy them that way because I get them very cheap. As I have said more then once I have done well over 20 stuck ones and only 2 or 3 did not free up
