I agree with your idea of canned meat. I can chicken, beef, pork and turkey. There's nothing better, in my opinion. It's easy to can, easy to prepare and delicious to eat. Over rice, noodles or potatoes, a quick and easy meal. Anyone out there who hasn't tried canning meat is missing out. If you need instruction on how to do it, just go to YouTube and there are lots of videos about how to can meat. If you get a deer or elk, can some. If you find beef, pork, chicken or turkey on sale, can it. It keeps for years. You will be happy you canned meat once you try it.
