LOL I know about these and after reading all of the posts now I'm confused.....
PTO= Activate the clutch and both the tractor travel and the DTO stops.
The 2nd one I think is the one you are asking about.....Some places call an Independant PTO a live PTO. This causes some confusion with users.
Live PTO=Being able to stop tractor travel while keeping the PTO running. This was accomplished in several ways. The 2 stage clutch, a 2nd clutch generally operated by hand, a reverser that allows shifting from forward to reverse without using the clutch and generally has a neutral where tractor travel can be stopped and a HI LOW shifter with a neutral where again it can be shifted into neutral without using the clutch.
IPTO= Can use the main clutch and the PTO stays running. Driven off a seperate shaft and the PTO can run as long as the tractor engine is running.
