The source (wire) chosen should be able to supply the amount of amps required by the charging device on the trailer. If the truck has a trailer wiring package it may be there already. If not a wire is not that hard to run. I would hook it up with a relay that is powered by the accessory terminal of the ignition system. that would then only charge when the truck is running, and it would prevent trailer drain of the tow vehicle bat.
