It would be interesting to read up about each manufacturer's efforts. My understanding was that Deere had one of the earliest field-ready prototypes in the US. No indication was made as to how the design stacked up to what was to come. The common theme I see with most innovations regardless of manufacturer is that most designs never got as far as a testable field model. Deere looked at a form of IVT technology while laying out concepts for the New Generation tractors but was never close to having anything ready to produce.
