I, too, joined the Navy while a senior in high school. I left home within a week after graduation in June 1962 while I was still 17 years old.
I guess the draft might have had some influence, but the fact that I had two older brothers who had served in the Navy, and one older brother who had served in the Army was the real impetus for enlistment.
I wish every American man, who genuinely loves our country, would serve at least one enlistment in the military. I don't want a bunch of malcontents infecting the lives of good men who are in the military.
