It's so true. Every time we are sitting in the doctor's office waiting room we see them going to the desk that handles the GVT assistance forms. They sure don't look indigent to me and that black SUV they drive with dark windows and thousands of dollars worth of 24" rims with skinny sidewall tires doesn't look like something a poor person would drive. .
About 20 years ago my dad got a $4000 refund from the IRS by mistake. He wrote to them but there was no response. So he called The IRS in Kansas city, and they said "well, uh, um, we don't know anything about it". His tax man told him to cash the check but be prepared to pay it back. So dad put it in some kind of intrest earning account. Why not make a little money off of this? About six months later he got a letter from the IRS wanting the $4000 back NOW AND I MEAN NOW!! So he withdrew it and sent them a check. He probably didn't make much interest on it, and the institution he invested it in probably had to report the earnings to who else but the IRS, but he had fun with it while it lasted. Jim
