The price of fuel is high here because oil is sold on the world market. Oil companies are for-profit just like any other company, so drilling here won't lower prices here if they can sell their oil for more elsewhere in the world for more money. The infamous Keystone Pipeline was for that purpose exactly - not to benefit us, but to get the oil closer to the export market. Our dollar is low, that means our exports are cheap to buy elsewhere. While our coal usage is flat, or down, we're are on track to export record amounts of coal this year. Got to look at the big picture...
