Cheap USA dollar.
Our ecconomy is in the dumpster, our dollar isn't worth so much to the rest of the world.
That is why fuel is high priced, even tho it is in oversupply currently.
Likewise, corn and beans and wheat are high priced.
When the dollar is high-valued in the world, we feel prices are cheap, but we can't export anything from this country as our products look too high to the rest of the world.
When the dollar is low-valued, we complain about high-priced staples but we are able to export bulk commodities and make good money on that as a nation.
Only times we don't grumble is the week or so when the dollar is kinda balanced in value I guess. :)
