I know the fords are bad on fuel, we have had a v10 and two f150s with the 5,4s neither one ever seemed to get over 10 mpg. I have always been a dodge guy, the hemi has plenty of power and if you drive it nicely will get 15mpg in the 2500 never had a 1500 and I know the cummins is the best diesel, might not have the best transmissions though but there new 6 speed automatic improved from the old 5 speed though, if not get it in a manual
