The Ford 5.4 had spark plug issues in the earlier ones. I think after about 2003 they had most of them worked out. They had aluminum cylinder heads too thin at the spark plug. They would strip the plug out of the head. They do have a repair plug/kit that will fix most of them.
Power wise they do fine with light to medium loads. Real heavy loads they are not made for that. They are kind doggy then.
The V-10 motors hold up fine but they get terrible gas mileage. I mean 5-6 miles to the gallon.
