You got that right. I heat my house with pellets and I can do it for under $1000 for the entire season. I take my money from my tax refund and go buy the pellets right away in March or so and then stick them in a shed all summer. Come heating seaon, I'm ready to go. I've learned that if I wait all summer and buy pellets they are stored outside, and while they're all wrapped in plastic, they still get wet from summer rains and it causes issues burning.
Last year I only used 5 tons over the 6 I've used the other 2 winters, so I now have an extra ton of pellets over what I normally have ready to burn. I do need to put a couple gallons of fuel oil in my tank though. I've got it down to less than an 1/8 right now. Been that way for over a year now...
