There are a few ways. One is to look for the serial tag on the left side of the clutch housing, or look for the serial on the right side of the engine block near the top. All major castings had a code on them, like 5*2*Y would be May 2, 1953. I can't think what '39 was as they skipped a few letters but you can look it up in the archives on the farmall forum. Zach
