My generator also has a Subaru Robin, I've had it for about 8years, since it is rarely used every time I run it I shut off the fuel valve and let it run until it runs the carburetor dry.
Then every 4 months or so I drain the gas and use it something else and put in new gas in the generator. Since I retired it only get used for Power out situations and I want it to start.
The unit has always started very good. I have never had a problem with the unit and it never uses any oil between changes
