As to why they had to replace the decent engines that they used to make- It wasn't their decision, the folks in Washington DC forced them with the emissions and economy standards. As for Ford warranty issues, don't get me going there. I have suggested to Ford numerous times that they partner with Georgia Pacific and print their warranty on Charmin Toilet tissue so it'll have some value. Don't get me wrong I like Fords, but I have had too many with minor warranty issues that Ford or the dealer wouldn't deal with so I don't buy new Fords anymore. We bought the Wife a Grand Caravan a few years ago. It's service history has been checkered but the dealer fixed anything that went wrong (quite a lot) without complaint. It's out of warranty now, I have taken it back for some repairs and it's right the first time when it comes back. No leaks, squeaks rattles or drips, can't say that for my last two Fords
