Not with the 17 Hornet, but my TC Contender rifle is chambered in 17 Remington Fireball. I've been really happy with the Fireball, it's deadly for woodchucks.
The 17 Hornady Hornet should perform close to the 17 Fireball, even though it has a lot less powder capacity. Both stand head and shoulders above the anemic and overrated 17 HMR. Had the Hornet been available as a standard chambering when I put together my Fireball, I might have considered going with it, as it should be slightly quieter.
The 22 Hornet case is known to be difficult to handload, and I assume the same holds true for the 17 HH. If you intend to handload, I'd say the 17 Fireball is a better choice. But if you want to use factory ammo, 17 Fireball factory ammo is ridiculously overpriced.
