I've bought and sold plenty via text in the last couple of years. Sold a truck last winter via txt, and sold a few loads of hay this summer via nothing but txt, bought a haybine via txt as well. Only talking to the folks when I/they showed up to complete the deal.
I PREFER TXT's to a phone call as I can ask questions and respond at my convenience. Sold some rounds of hay this summer while I was on the tractor baling it as I could respond when the bale was being tied even with the noise of the tractor. I didn't have to find time to call them and sit around chit chatting.
