While watching the tractor pulling I couldn't help but wonder why it is , and what kind of person likes the sound of those two cylinder John Deere tractors. I just don't understand how anyone can think that a JD two cylinder idling at 100 RPM ( putt-putt ) sounds good. Compared to the smooth throaty roar of a Farmall for instance, the sound of a two cylinder tractor is like the sound of a flushing toilet. And what's the deal with the horizontal pistons ? Why, its unAmerican . It must be like owning a Subaru only louder. Flushing toilet eh? Maybe so, but any idiot can see which brand of tractor always wins the pulls, and believe me, where I come from it aint the red ones. After the pulls are over, the red tractors paint jobs and their owners faces match rather nicely.
