Yes, actually I had an '01 Focus also, it had 165,000 miles on it (I have a 30 mile one way drive to work), needed brakes, coolant was "disappearing", some electrical gremlins were creeping in (hatch release didnt' work anymore, rear dome light stayed on, door adjar idot light stayed on) figured it was time to go. I told myself I was never going to buy another new vehicle, but used vehicles were only a grand or so less than the price I was able to negotiate, plus I saved money over the last eleven years so I was able to buy it without a loan. Should've seen the look on the sales guys face when I said I would pay for it "today", don't think he sees that very often anymore...I really like this so far, seems much more "solid" than the old one, quality seems to have improved.
