I have seen this idea mentioned several times..It would take years to do,take up lots of land,and would cost a fortune..Getting the water to where its needed would be a problem..
Every farmer would have to put an irrigation system in..My renter is putting in one beside me..Just the center pivot irrigation system will cost $100,000 to do 160 acres..He also has the expense to dig a large lake hoping that it will rain enough to fill it..
From 2004-2010 our area had plenty of rain and we had some great crops..2011 and 2012 have been very dry during the growing season and the crops have been poor..
