it will take new axles there is no way air brakes can be made to operate from an electric magnet, which is what makes trailer brakes work on axles with electric brakes, how big is the trailer and what tonnage, most pintle hitch trailers with air brakes are far to big to be pulled by a 1 ton, there designed for trucks to haul large equipment on, i haul the company d-6 lgp on one behind either a tandem axle dump truck or a semi tractor , the empty weight of that trailer is over 10,000 lbs, with the dozer its about 50,000, they make smaller pintle hitch trailers, but their still pretty heavy ,by the time you bought complete new axles, it wouldnt take too much more money to pick up a trailer already designed to be pulled by a pickup for your tractor to ride on
