so the hot topic was the aflatoxin in this years corn crop. lot of it showing up in n central il. some fields have it, some dont. one elevator is testing and turning away any loads with over 3 ppb concentration. other elevators are not even testing, just taking what ever comes in. the distillers grain coming out of the ethanol plants will have it in there. may or may not have an effect on beef cattle, but, one of the guys said that all milk will need to be tested at the dairy. and from the guys that had pie with coffee, they are saying corn will hit over 10/bu by july next summer due to the short crop this year. so, most guys are hauling right to the elevator from the field, and a few guys are storing it....and thats the crop report from the coffee shop.
