The 24 volt system works the same as the 12 volt with the exception that the cases of the components are not the ground circuit. Instead everything in the starting and charging system has a separate wire for the ground. On the generator the post on the bottom serves like the ground rather than the case like on the 12 volt system. On the starter the same thing happens. Instead of grounding the case, the cable connected to the side of the case acts like the ground would on the 12 volt system. Likewise the voltage regulator is not grounded to the tractor chassis but rather to the same circuit as the bottom stud on the generator. If you can keep it straight in your mind that the starter, generator, and regulator are all grounded by this circuit rather than through their cases you can trouble shoot them the same as the 12 volt system
