: I've seen alot of ads that say "live pump"? : Could someone explain this??? Mike - "Live" pump is driven directly off the engine - either by a gear off the crankshaft, or else via shaft from the crank at the front of the engine. Hyd pressure is available anytime the engine is running. Non-live (often termed "belly" pump) hydraulics are driven off the transmission countershaft. It supplies pressure only when the clutch is engaged. Stomp on the clutch and hyd pressure goes away. Live hydraulics is much preferred over a belly pump. Bob
