My better half is from Hibbing. She got de-Ranged in "68, due to her first elem teaching job in central MN. Hibbing is the town that moved early 1900s cuz it was sitting on such rich ore. Interesting pix, moving buildings with animals and small tractors, trucks. (google the book- the town that moved. Interesting history and pix of the mines, town, etc.). IIRC Hull-Rust mine is the one NE of Hibbing, the biggest open pit iron ore mine in the world. da Range pretty much supplied US ore for WW I and II. Taconite processing was developed with help of U of MN engineers in the early 50s, could reclaim ore of lesser iron content. Most of that is used up- now they"re going after the spill piles, but mining is very decreased there.
