Hello Sweetfeet, I don't know how good is the detail of the picture. But from the center to the left of the handle,no preservative. From the center to the right I sprayed it with WD40. Then I wiped it dry with a paper towel. It still left the surface smooth and shiny. Could this be a way to preserve old iron?. The nice thing about the WD40 you get get it to most surfaces. If you spray it on plastic parts and wipe it, it looks good also. Try it...........................Guido.
