If you have any hungry chickens, take them near the crack and start pouring water in the crack. The crickets will start running out of the crack and the chickens will have a feast! When we lived near Dallas, we had that nasty black gumbo that cracked like that. Thankfully down here in the RGV we have great soil that tends not to crack or shift.
